C. Jason Smith holds a B.A. and M.A. from Texas
A&M University and the Ph.D. in Comparative Literature
from the University of Arkansas
with major fields in Critical Theory, World Literature, Spanish
and Latin American Literature, and Modern and Contemporary Anglophone
Literatures. He has published and presented widely on issues
of sex, gender, and the body as represented in Adolescent Literature,
British Literature, Science Fiction film and television, and
online culture. He recently published a book, with Ximena Gallardo
C., on gender representations in film entitled Alien Woman:
The Making of Lt. Ellen Ripley (Continuum International Publishing
Group, 2004). He is currently writing an interdisciplinary book
on virtuality and embodiment tentatively titled eVolution:
An Introduction to the Pleasures of the Virtual Body.
