Artist Statement by Mindy Herrin

Over the past few years my work has explored multiple fabrication techniques, and the combination of metal with alternative materials. Organic by nature, these forms use materials for their tactile properties, creating pieces that move, mold when they're touched, and hint to the adventures of everyday life.

I combine aspects of nature with the body to create a sense of the fantastic, or the sublime. For me it is necessary to cross the lines of reality when describing an abstract concept, or idea. These dream-like, edgy little creatures represent the character of "experience," telling a story through metal and movement.
